Romney Marsh Wools open Pre-sale of Raw Fleece

Romney Marsh Wools have opened pre-sales for their pure British Romney raw fleece, following on from popular demand. The Romney sheep has the highest quality of fleece of any native sheep, with a long, crimped staple which is easy to spin as well as being soft enough for use in the production of clothing. Romney Marsh Wools' raw fleece comes entirely from their own flock of just over 1,000 Romney ewes which graze on the family farm on the Romney Marsh, Kent.

Shearing will begin towards the end of May and the fleece will be dispatched direct from the farm. The fleece is straight from the sheep so it will need washing & carding prior to use and as it is not bleached or dyed it is perfect for hand dying. With many turning their hand to new or lapsed hobbies to keep occupied during this “stay at home” period, there has been a noticeable increase in sales for yarn & associated wool products over recent weeks.
