Southeast growers donate more than 1000 blooms to NHS as part of National Nurses Week

Local flower growers have clubbed together to donate more than 1000 flowers to East Kent NHS Trust, as part of National Nurses Week 2020. The donation, which coincides with end of Nurses Weeks and the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, will go to William Harvey Hospital Ashford, the Kent & Canterbury and QEQM Hospital at Margate.

Jennifer Stuart-Smith, director of Blooming Green, near Maidstone said: “When we got a call from East Kent NHS Trust, asking if we could provide more than a 1000 flowers for local nurses, we wanted to make it happen -- but there was no way we could do it on our own. So, we called on friends and fellow members of Flowers from the Farm and the resounding response was ‘yes’. It’s a huge challenge but by working together we can make amazing things happen.”

Eleven different flower growers, from across Kent & Sussex have picked buckets of mixed, seasonal flowers, which will be given individually to nurses at the end of their shifts on Tuesday (12th) to show appreciation for their work.
